Please log onto the 'Oxford Owl at Home' website and click the 'Kids' section. There are lots of interactive activities linked to phonics, reading, times tables, number bonds and many more, to help support you at home whilst schools are closed.

This is a lovely story written by a teacher during "lockdown" which you might like to read, "How to Not go to School, Parsley Mimblewood Saves the World".

Don't forget to check out the Useful Links tab under 'Children'. Here you will find lots of PE and Wellbeing activities such as:

  • Mini me yoga & wellbeing
  • Premier league all stars - family games & challenges
  • Get set 4 pe - family games and challenges
  • Community soccer coaching videos by Neil Prince, Megan & Tom

In the event that school is closed for a longer period of time, there are weekly packs included below.  Please use the green project book that was sent home to complete.

If you are having to work from home please use these three documents to help you find useful activities to complete. There are plenty of useful websites listed and many more are also offering access during this time. Please try to be as creative as possible and remember to design a front cover, to get you started. Use your Purple Mash logins to receive frequent updates and locate any additional work which may be posted.

As well as doing your schoolwork it is really important to look after your mental wellbeing too. is a great site to practise yoga and don't forget mindful breathing from class dojo.

Author Visit

Our class author is Frank Cottrell-Boyce. We will be studying his work towards the end of the year. In November, Y5 were lucky enough to get a surprise visit and class workshop with the man himself. Year 5 were absolutely delighted when they found out he was coming to see us! A celebrity at Linacre!!

During the workshop, Frank Cottrell-Boyce inspired us so much. He explained that he himself doesn't get his writing right first time and that it's ok to edit as then something amazing can come out from the editing process. Frank also left the children some stimulus to inspire their next piece of writing. What do you think? This picture has also inspired The Grinch, Shrek and Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland. Can you see these characters within the picture?
