Linacre Primary School

Learning   Progress   Success

Year 1 - Jeffers Class

This is a lovely story written by a teacher during "lockdown" which you might like to read, "How to Not go to School, Parsley Mimblewood Saves the World".

Please log onto the 'Oxford Owl at Home' website and click the 'Kids' section. There are lots of interactive activities linked to phonics, reading, times tables, number bonds and many more, to help support you at home whilst schools are closed.
In the event that school is closed for a longer period of time, there are weekly packs included below.  Please use the green project book that was sent home to complete.

As well as doing your schoolwork it is really important to look after your mental wellbeing too. is a great site to practise yoga and don't forget mindful breathing from class dojo.

Lots of useful links, including P.E and wellbeing activities can be found under the tabs;

Penguins, Pigs and Possums

Penguins, Possums and Pigs! Homework Project

Year 1 had great fun completing their homework projects this half term. Look at their fantastic work! We cannot wait to get started with our next projects.

Black History Week

We read the story Handa's Surprise and discussed what was different in Handa's life compared with ours. We moved on to look in more detail at the differences between African and British culture and made our own African inspired necklaces!

Reading for Pleasure!

Year 1 love reading!

Letters to Orlagh

Colour Mixing

Anti-Bullying Week

We watched the video For the Birds and discussed the message behind it. We all thought of different ways that we could be a good friend and be kind to people.

Inter-Faith Week

We discussed how everybody is different and unique. We compared our similarities and differences as a class. We then found a partner and drew portraits of each other.

Children In Need

We learnt about the importance of charity and helping others. We looked into the history of Children in Need and all the important work they do. We discussed why we are all fortunate and what we are lucky to have.
