(Year 1 - 2021/22)
Hello and welcome to Jeffers class page. My name is Mrs Crato and I will be teaching Year 1. I am looking forward to all the exciting learning and experiences that we will have this year!
Eglish - Experience day
The Way Back Home by Oliver Jeffers
The children have created their own string telephone so that the boy and the alien can communicate with each other.
The children have enjoyed exploring all of the different number bonds that make 10.
Year 1 have explored all the ways of making 5
Year 1 have enjoyed learning all about the compass. We have explored using a compass on the playground and the children followed the direction of North.
What is targeted provision?
We have short bursts of activities each day. These activities help to develop the skills that the children need to further their learning such as fine motor skills, cutting skills, number formation, letter formation, mathematical awareness, Phonics and sentence structures. Each activity is planned and delivered to target areas that the children need to develop. Here are some of our activities below.
Autumn 1 - DT Making our fruit salad
Autumn 1 - Science
We followed instructions and made our own dog biscuits.
English - Little Red Riding Hood
Experience Day - We went exploring in the wild garden to see what we could see and hear.
We used our experiences to create sentences about what we would be able to see and hear in the woods.
This will consist of a half-termly project.
Weekly spellings will be sent home every Friday.
Please try to read each night with your child. It will really help them to progress in all curriculum areas. Your child will be sent home with a reading book and a RWI book to read at home daily. We will be teaching and learning our Phonics sounds daily so it is important that the children also revise this at home.
P.E will take place on a Wednesday and Thursday.
Our P.E kit includes the following:
During the colder months children can also wear the following:
Please ensure that your child's P.E kit is clearly labelled and is inside a school P.E bag. P.E kits will be kept in school and will be sent home half-termly to clean and return.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to come and see me at the end of the day!
