Carle Class ( Nursery - 2021/22)
Hello and welcome to Carle class. Mrs Conway is currently on maternity leave so I am delighted to be teaching Nursery alongside Mrs Yule. We look forward to working with both parents and children throughout the year and sharing our fantastic experiences together.
Children will take home a book every Friday to share at home. Enjoy sharing the book together, look at the front cover, what is the title? who is the author? As you share the book, encourage your child to turn the pages and talk together about what you can see and what is happening using the pictures as prompts. Reading and sharing books will help towards your child's learning and development, as well as building foundations for later reading and writing. Please return the book by the following Wednesday.
During the year we will also be looking at books written by Eric Carle, this is our class name. He has written some lovely books such as The Very Hungry Caterpillar. If you would like to listen to his stories at home you can find these on YouTube.
Knowledge Organiser and Literacy Focus
Each half term children will bring home a knowledge organiser and literacy focus sheet. The literacy focus sheet contain information about the books we are reading we are covering in class and we ask that you also read and discuss these books with your children at home. The knowledge organiser lets you know the key vocabulary we are using linked to our topic and we ask that you use this language with your children at home too, they also contain links to videos, books and poems that support the topics we are covering.
Talk Talk task
Children will receive a 'talk talk' sheet every half term. This will consist of a weekly question that you can discuss as a family. Please write down anything your child says and bring it back into school once completed so we can enjoy a lovely circle time together sharing our thoughts and ideas.
If you have any questions please come in at the start or end of our nursery sessions. There is also a parent information board in class which you can find further information.
Welcome to Our Classroom
Here are some picture of the things we like to do in class.
This term we our learning about ourselves, our families and the communities we are part of. We have enjoyed making friends and discovering that although we are all the same we are also all unique and special. We are enjoying learning about each others families, our different cultures and our likes and dislikes.
Every week we do Dough Disco and Wriggle Jiggle which we all love. We get to dance to music and have fun with our friends whilst developing our gross motor skills and our fine motor skills. We also learn to concentrate on two things at once as we have to listen to instructions and move at the same time.
