Nursery - Carle Class

This is a lovely story written by a teacher during "lockdown" which you might like to read, "How to Not go to School, Parsley Mimblewood Saves the World".

Please log onto the 'Oxford Owl at Home' website and click the 'Kids' section. There are lots of interactive activities linked to phonics, reading, times tables, number bonds and many more, to help support you at home whilst schools are closed.

In the early years we love doing dough disco!!! Dough disco is a fun activity which combines the use of playdough with a series of hand and finger exercies designed to improve fine muscle control. Shonette Bason is the lady who created this and she is doing a live dough disco everyday on youtube at 9.30 am. You will need to subscribe to Spread The Happiness tv channel on youtube to view this. Whilst school is closed please have a go at doing this at home, it is something all the family can do together and is so much fun!!

If you don't have playdough at home there is a simple recipe on the website

Don't forget to check out the Useful Links tab under 'children'. Here you will find lots of PE and Wellbeing activities such as:

  • Mini me yoga and wellbeing
  • Premier league all stars- family games and challenges
  • Get set 4 pe- family games and challenges
  • Community soccer coaching videos by Neil Prince, Megan and Tom

In the event that school is closed for a longer period of time, there are weekly packs included below.  Please use the green project book that was sent home to complete.

Carle Class ( Nursery - 2019/20)

Mrs Conway

Hello and welcome to Carle class. Myself and Mrs Yule look forward to working with both parents and children throughout the year and sharing our fantastic experiences together.

Autumn topic 1

Our topic this half term is 'All about me.'  Our focus text is 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt,' by Michael Rosen.

Autumn topic 2

Our topic this half term is 'Celebrations.'  Our focus text is 'The Gruffalo,'  by Julia Donaldson.

Spring topic 1

Our topic this half term is 'Traditional Tales.' Our focus text is 'Goldilocks and the three bears.

Spring topic 2

Our topic this half term is 'Growth and change.' Our focus text is 'The Enormous Turnip.' We have also got a very exciting opportunity for the children this half term as we are taking part in the 'Living eggs' experience as part of British science week. The children will get the opportunity to observe eggs in an incubator and watch chicks hatch out and grow over a period of two weeks. We are very excited!!

Every week children can take a book home and return it when they have finished. Please come into nursery and help your child choose one out of our home book box. Reading and sharing books will help towards their development as well as building foundations for later reading and writing.

Home tasks

Every Monday your child will take home a rhyme that we will be learning in class. Please practice this rhyme at home as it helps towards communication, language and literacy. In addition to this your child will receive a 'talk talk' activity sheet for the half term. This can be brought in when completed and children can share their thoughts and ideas during circle time.

If you have any questions please come in at the start or end of our nursery sessions. There is also a parent information board in class which you can find further information.
