Linacre v Rimrose Hope
From the whistle Rimrose Hope went on the attack with Daniel Mikolajewski making his debut in goal for Linacre. He was called on early to get involved, making a save. Leah Newman went on the attack, backed up by KS. Ellis Browne made a good clearance, with Rimrose sending the ball out of play. Leah Newman took the throw-in, with an enormous throw finding Sam Seddon. Ellis Browne was a towering presence in defence, a huge collision with the Rimrose striker, a real bell-ringer, the poor striker must have seen stars, but Ellis stood his ground. Thomas Dobbin and Ellis Browne worked well again together at the back. Thomas Dobbin headed the ball clear and a great attacking move followed with Sam Seddon putting a great pass through for Shea Maloney to run onto. He looked up, saw Leah Newman in space, her final shot went just wide. Play went up the other end again, the striker getting round everybody, but fortunately Ellis Browne was there again. Unfortunately, he didn’t quite do enough to put off the striker whose shot was flat, hard and straight at our keeper, leaving Daniel with little chance to save it, 0-1. Another attack needed Thomas Dobbin to head clear. A second goal quickly followed, 0-2. More pressure followed from the kick off. Daniel Mikolajewski made a good save, then Thomas Dobbin again was strong in defence. Leah Newman went on the attack, final shot going wide. Thomas Dobbin again bringing the ball out of defence, sent Sam Seddon on the attack, who saw the Rimrose defence at sixes and sevens and took a long-range speculative shot, which was saved. A super move started from the back with Daniel Mikolajewski to Ellis Browne, to KS, finally onto Shea Maloney with the Rimrose keeper saving his shot. Play went up the other end again where Daniel Mikolajewski was called upon to make a super save, tipping the ball over the bar. Rimrose mounted another attack, slicing through our defence, leaving Daniel as the last man, he had no chance with the resulting shot, 0-3.
Rimrose started brightly again, with an early shot going over the bar. Sam Seddon went on a lovely run, weaving through the Rimrose defence, his final shot floated over the bar. Goal kick and Sam Seddon was in action again, tackling, but unfortunately this challenge led to him taking no further part in the game. Sean Alty came on. Two goals followed in quick succession as Linacre were trying to reorganise themselves in Sam’s absence, 0-5. Linacre were not about to give up, an attack was started in midfield by KS, with Shea Maloney’s strike going wide. Leah Newman wanted to have a go, but her shot needed a fine save from the Rimrose keeper. Play went up the other end again, where Leah Newman took a great corner which KS narrowly missed getting her toe on the end of. Rimrose went on the attack and scored again, 0-6. Shea Maloney won a free kick, KS was not going to give up possession without a fight, strong in attack, shielding the ball. Linacre played right up to the whistle.
