Design and Technology is an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject, that should be fully inclusive to every child. Using creativity and imagination, pupils at Linacre Primary School are encouraged to design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts; considering their own and other's needs, wants and values. Our pupils learn how to take risks, becoming resourceful, innovative, enterprising and capable citizens. Through the evaluation of past and present design and technology, they are encouraged to develop a critical understanding of its impact on daily life and the wider world.
To ensure high standards of teaching and learning in design and technology, we implement a curriculum that is progressive throughout the whole school. Design and technology is taught as part of a half-termly topic, taught in a block week, focusing on knowledge and skills stated in the National Curriculum.
