Early Years Curriculum

In our Foundation Stage Unit (FSU) at Linacre Primary we provide an environment that is safe, secure and welcoming.  Your child will encounter many exciting and interesting activities.  Play is at the heart of the Early Years curriculum.  Well-provisioned and managed play provides a wealth of opportunity for the child to develop and enhance their skills, knowledge and understanding.

The curriculum we follow is devised from a combination of topics that we know excite children’s imaginations and children’s interests.  The Early Years Stage is a distinct and vital stage of education with its own Early Learning Goals.

There are seven areas to cover which provide the children with a balanced curriculum:

  • Communication and Language

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development

  • Physical Development

  • Literacy

  • Mathematics

  • Understanding the World

  • Expressive Arts and Design

 

We structure our day with a combination of whole class, group and individual activities together with child-initiated play – this takes place both inside and outside.
