5B Research visit to Hugh Baird Library

5B enjoyed a great trip to the library at Hugh Baird today.  The purpose of the visit was to research Australian bushfires, in order to write a newspaper report as our final piece of work on 'Fox' by Margaret Wild.

The staff had prepared lots of resources for the children to use.  We were able to use these printed resources as well as internet searches.  With plenty of school staff, college staff and students on hand to help the children get the most out of the research, all children were able to plan their report.  We now hope to use the ICT suite in school to type up our reports in a newspaper format, including all the features of a newspaper.

Everyone involved in the trip commented on how well behaved the children were.  They were a credit to the school and a pleasure to take out.  We look forward to our next visit.
